Please note: We only offer Sunday to Sunday reservations in the Summer.

Stay at "American Dreaming" and check off all of your vacation boxes! Sit by the firepit in our fenced backyard and listen to the sounds of the crashing waves, which are 1 block down the street. Head down to the beach during the day and cool off in our private stock tank pool while your kids play ping pong in the gameroom. Savor a short 10 min. drive down to Southport to catch a ferry or sit on the water and have a striking dinner!

About the Area

Long Beach, a neighborhood in Oak Island, is home to this vacation home. Bald Head Island Lighthouse and Old Brunswick County Jail Museum are local landmarks, and the area's natural beauty can be seen at Caswell Beach and Bay Beach. Bald Head Island Information Center and North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport are also worth visiting.

When to go & When to book:

• Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
• Summer is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
• Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
• Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
• Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
• Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
• Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
• Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
• Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
• Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
• Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
