Our top Cape Fear area rental home tips:

When to visit Wilmington & When to reserve a rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Cape Fear area attractions and restaurants.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and picking the bestvacation home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. MerManor by the Cargo District has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
