Our top Oak Island rental booking tips and tricks:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Reserve your Cape Fear area vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have deals for local shops and restaurants.

Choosing the best rental home in Oak Island:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. All Summer Long: Modern Home located in the Woodlands and Waterway area of Oak I has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If there's a particular Cape Fear area beach you love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
