Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Make a plan and pick your prefect Cape Fear area rental:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Ocean Front, Spacious, Dog Friendly End Unit, Best Views, Pools, near N End Pier has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

During your stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
