Tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Carolina Beach. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefectvacation home:
- Start by having your group choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront condo w\/ocean views and community pool access. 2br\/2ba has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Cape Fear area destination you long to visit, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
