Strategies to get the best Wilmington rental experience:

When to reserve a Cape Fear area rental home & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose the perfect rental:

  • Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Peaceful Retreat - Near Beaches, Downtown, UNCW has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
