  • Summer is high season in Carolina Beach. Booking your Cape Fear area vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.

  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise.
