Cape Fear area vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Finding your best deal:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Cape Fear area area. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Cape Fear area attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing and booking a perfectvacation home:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Stunning Intercoastal home on Caswell w\/ Pool has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
