We're new to Vacation Rental By Owner, but we're not new to the vacation rental market. Prior to listing on Vacation Rental By Owner, we have exclusively rented our property through social media & word-of-mouth. Almost all of our current guests are repeat customers, which is a strong testament to their high level of satisfaction with our home. Tips for getting the perfect Ocean Isle Beach vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Cape Fear area area. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Cape Fear area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.

During your stay:

  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
