  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses.   • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise.
