Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Cape Fear area vacation home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summer is high season in the Cape Fear area area. Booking your Cape Fear area vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • To start, have your group agree to the best dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. The Sea Palm, A Coastal Cottage Steps From The Beach!!! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
