How to find the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Bald Head Island. To book the best rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First, have your family choose trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Welcome to Royal Palm Suite at The Marsh Harbour Inn Bed and Breakfast has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
