How to book the best vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Carolina Beach. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Cape Fear area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Finding the perfect rental:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Steps away from Beach- Dog Friendly has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your contract.

During your stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
