Our top Cape Fear area vacation rental tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Cape Fear area area. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose and book the rightvacation home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Wright By The Sea –Relax and enjoy the beach at this comfy oceanfront condo has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
