Rental home tips:

How to get the best value:

  • To get the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have discounts for local tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by having your family decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Quiet Beach Oasis minutes from Carolina & Kure Beach! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
